PURPOSE

The T. Franklin Williams Scholars Award is given to a junior faculty geriatrician (within four years of their first faculty appointment) who is conducting research in collaboration with a specialist of internal medicine on a specialty related health problem of older patients. The award is intended to support the academic career development of a promising geriatrics physician-scientist.

The T. Franklin Williams Scholars Award is offered by the AGS Foundation for Health in Aging (FHA) in collaboration with the Association of Specialty Professors (ASP) and is supported by a generous grant from the Atlantic Philanthropies. The award provides $75,000 in project support over two years ($37,500/year) for a junior faculty member who is devoting 75% of his/her time to research. The award must be matched by support (either from the applicant's home institution or a grant-making agency) that provides for 75% protected time for research.
