SELECTION CRITERIA *
A Selection Committee of composed of nationally prominent academic physicians reviews all applications. Final selection of grant recipients is made by the Selection Committee and approved by the ASP Geriatrics Committee.
In their evaluations, Selection Committee members consider:
- qualifications of the applicant;
- impact of the proposed project on the applicant's career;
- the applicant's commitment to an academic research career devoted to improving the care of older adults;
- scientific merit of the research proposal and its relevance to improving subspecialty care of older adults;
- evidence of the sub-specialty and geriatrics sponsors' commitment to the applicant through the period of the program as well as the sponsors' experience in research and training in the applicant's area of research interest; and
- commitment of the applicant's institution to supporting the career development of the junior faculty member (specific examples of evidence of such commitment include: provision of research facilities, research assistance, etc).
