THE T. FRANKLIN WILLIAMS SCHOLARS PROGRAM/GEMSSTAR
A companion grant program to the National Institute on Aging RO3 award: Grants for Early Medical/Surgical Subspecialists? Transition to Aging Research (GEMSSTAR) Program
Overview
GEMSSTAR Program
The National Institute on Aging's (NIA) GEMSSTAR awards support early career physicians trained in medical and surgical subspecialties through an RO3 mechanism that will provide up to $100,000 in direct costs over two years for research on the geriatrics aspects of their specialty. This new award requires some level of supplemental funding (match) as explained in the RFA.
The GEMSSTAR award is an early career award with the goal of helping researchers establish a research track record in the field of geriatrics research while at once (via supplemental funding) nurturing their academic career though formal class room education or other means of career development. The T. Franklin Williams Scholars Program /GEMSSTAR Program is one of several career development awards that will offer supplemental funding (matching) mechanism to the GEMSSTAR award.
