BLADDER CONTROL PROBLEMS: TAKING CONTROL OF YOUR BLADDER CONTROL PROBLEMS (2001)
More than 13 million people, including 1 in 3 over the age of 65, have bladder control problems. With new and effective treatments, everyone can be helped and many people can be cured regardless of age. Experts from the AGS have developed this pamphlet to help older adults and their caregivers manage bladder control problems with their health care providers.
DEPRESSION: RECOGNIZING AND TREATING DEPRESSION: A GUIDE TO HELPING NURSING HOME RESIDENTS WITH DEPRESSION
Depression is common among older people in nursing homes. As many as half of all older people living in nursing homes have depression. Many of them severe enough to effect the older person's functioning and quality of life. Many older people who have a chronic, physical illness also have depression. This pamphlet helps caregivers to recognize the signs and symptoms of depression as well as treatment options.

Falling is a very common and serious problem for older persons. Many times, falling can be prevented by relatively simple interventions, such as adjusting the dose of your medication(s) or even getting new eyeglasses. Your doctor can determine your risk of falling and help you avoid falling in the future. This pamphlet describes how patients can work with their healthcare providers to reduce the risk of falling.
OSTEOARTHRITIS: RX: EXERCISE FOR OSTEOARTHRITIS (2001)
Studies have shown that exercise can decrease pain and improve function for older patients with osteoarthritis. Another benefit is that increasing physical activity improves posture and walking stability, which may help reduce the risk of falling. This pamphlet describes how to start an exercise program and answers common questions about arthritis and exercise.

If you would like a list of physicians in your area who are sensitive to the special health care needs of older adults, please submit your request online by completing the form below. Due to the high volume of requests, it will take at least two to three weeks for this information to reach you by mail. At this time, it is not possible for us to fax or email this information to you.
All physicians participating in our referral service are members of the American Geriatrics Society and are board-certified in either Family Practice (FP) or Internal Medicine (IM). Many have also acquired additional training necessary to obtain the Certificate of Added Qualifications in Geriatric Medicine (CAQGM). Please be aware that a referral from us does not represent an endorsement by the AGS Foundation for Health in Aging or American Geriatrics Society of the services of the physician.
