The AGS Foundation for Health in Aging and the Association of Subspecialty Professors are pleased to announce the Call for Applications for the 2010 T. Franklin Williams Scholars Award. This award is given to an academic geriatrician who is conducting research on older patients that has applicability to the care provided by sub-specialists of internal medicine. The award is part of a broader effort in internal medicine, in which specialty medical societies collaborate with ASP and The Atlantic Philanthropies to support research on aging. For the Williams award, AGS' FHA is partnering with ASP to support a geriatrician.
An academic advisory board composed of distinguished academic geriatricians selects one recipient annually. The recipient will receive a $75,000 grant over a two-year period. The award must be matched by support (either from the applicant's home institution or a grant-making agency) that provides for 75% protected time for research. Research findings are presented at the American Geriatrics Society Annual Scientific Meeting at the conclusion of the recipient's grant.
