Osteoporosis is a disease that causes a person’s bones to become thin, less dense, and more fragile. Osteoporosis can develop gradually as people age and lose key hormones, including estrogen and testosterone.

Often osteoporosis has no symptoms. You may be unaware that your bones have become thin and unstable.
