The thyroid gland is a small, very important organ in the neck. The thyroid makes hormones that ensure a person’s organs work. It also makes sure that your body gets nutrition from food during digestion.

The thyroid gland makes three hormones: triiodothyronine (T3), thyroxine (T4), and calcitonin.
