Arrhythmias

Symptoms

Not all arrhythmias cause symptoms. You might not even know you have an arrhythmia until it is discovered during a routine medical check-up. Arrhythmia might feel like racing or thumping, but often the symptoms are seemingly unrelated.

Bradycardia or arrhythmias that have a slow heart rate may cause:

  • Shortness of breath
  • Weakness
  • Fatigue
  • Lightheadedness or dizziness
  • Fainting spells
  • Falls
  • Chest discomfort

Tachycardia or arrhythmias that have a fast heart rate may cause:

  • A fluttering feeling in your chest
  • Shortness of breath
  • Lightheadedness or dizziness
  • Chest discomfort
