- Symptoms of fecal incontinence vary from person to person. Some people have very mild fecal incontinence while others have more severe symptoms.
- People with mild symptoms may slightly soil their underwear when their stools are watery because watery stools are harder to hold in.
- Mild symptoms can also include inadvertent escape of flatus (gas).
- People with more serious fecal incontinence may regularly lose control of their bowels and pass stool whether it is liquid or solid.
